NO ATMOSPHERE

CANARIASOCULTO.COM

Here's another nice danceable single released on the A Different Drum label. You can only expect some of the best, up-beat and poppyp synthpop from this label and this release is no exception. This single is a great synthpop track, with pounding dance beats and nice layering of synths and vocals. It carries the typical "single dilemna" of the same song remixed or edited several times over, with the "Single Edit" and "Extended Club Mix" being almost identical except for the editing to trim it down for the single. But the "Alien#Six13 Mix" and "DJ Doobie's Electrix Mix" are completely take this track and turn it inside out, especially the latter, hardly resembling
the original at all. The real treat on this single has to be "Flowers Fade" with it's great futuristic synthpop sound and some nice intelligent lyrics. This Italian synthpop band gives us a great glimpse into what is hopefully more to come. Remixes aside, this is a great single and I think points to what will be a great album.

This is the debut single for Syrian on the A Different Drum label, with the track "No Atmosphere" taken from the upcoming album "De-Synchronized", and 3 remixes of that track. Also included is a remix of one other album track, "Vega Velocity", and an exclusive b-side track, "Flowers Fade".
I must say, right from the start, this single had me captivated. It seems this band has managed to capture the best elements of both the futurepop sound and synthpop, as the title track is a bouncy, hard-hitting awesome club track that will doubtlessly be filling dancefloors for a while to come. Both the Extended Club mix and the Alien#Six13 mix preserve that sense of memorablility, and while the Alien#Six13 mix is a bit more club friendly, it still is mostly true to the original, which is good.
The b-side, "Flowers Fade" isn't quite as catchy and hard-hitting as the first two tracks, but still is pretty fun to listen to. About the only track I really just didn't care for here was the DJ Doobie mix of "No Atmosphere". It is rather dull, repetitive, and boring. My wife heard it and immediatly said, "It Sound's like the Macarena". In short, it stinks. Other than that, this is a great CD single, and well worth a purchase. Highly recommended!

This is a new single from Syrian - an italian band that is new to the a different drum label. their sound is future-pop / synthpop, and this is actually really good for a relatively new band, i was quite impressed. the music is similar to bands like icon of coil and apoptygma berzerk, and the vocals are more synthpop sounding, like beborn beton and de/vision. the title track is a great track, and the cd features 4 versions of it, including an extended club mix which is similar to the original, and two versions that are more techno sounding. also, there's a great track called "vegas velocity", which would also be a great club track, and another track called "flowers fade", which sounds really good but the vocals are kinda cheesy sounding. as the first time i've heard this band, i must say that they are very good and i expect them to gain more popularity in the future. i'm looking forward to their future releases.
